Technical Sales Representative

Maryland Biochemical Company, Inc. is currently seeking hard-working and motivated Outside Sales Professional.  The primary function of this position is to endorse and sell Bioaugmentation to municipal and industrial wastewater facilities within this territory.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and be able to navigate around the territory to make cold calls on wastewater professionals to sell biological additives.  This is an outside sales position to maintain existing business and grow the territory with new accounts.  Salary, Commission, Car allowance & Expenses paid.


  • Specialize in generating new business in your territory through prospecting, cold calling, networking, and relationship building.
  • Must maintain business through regular customer visits and provide onsite technical assistance.
  • Develop a sales plan for assigned territory to include segmenting territory based on travel schedule to qualify and prioritize opportunities, and to maintain appropriate territory records.
  • Must be able to allocate time effectively, develop and qualify leads for prospective customers, prepare proposals, and perform necessary follow-up for successful closing of the sale.
  • Complete call reports, expense reports and customer records.
  • Participate in trade shows.


  • Minimum of 2 years successful outside sales or waste water treatment plant work experience.
  • Must possess computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must be a good communicator in person and on the phone and possess good written skills.
  • Must have solid presentation skills and closing techniques.
  • Must be a self-motivator with good organizational skills.
  • Must dedicate time to learning market and product knowledge.
  • Must be able to travel throughout territory daily (1-2 days per week overnight is typical) within territory.
  • Technical sales, product and market training provided, but must continue to study to become proficient in products and applications.


Maryland Biochemical Company is a 40-year-old company selling to the water and wastewater industries.  We are a small, family owned company with sales representatives from New England to South Carolina.  To support further growth, we are looking for a highly motivated, customer-focused individual who wants to succeed and grow the business in the designated territory. Local sales representatives have great flexibility to grow their markets within broad guidelines.  The office staff provides marketing and sales support, in depth training, and all necessary supplies.
